FCC allows AT&T to purchase spectrum from Qualcomm

Initially, the FCC was evaluating both the $39.9 billion anticipated acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T & the AT&T's $1.9 billion proposal for spectrum from Qualcomm jointly. However whenever AT&T made the closing decision to withdraw from the T-Mobile acquisition, it requested the FCC to make a swift judgment on the acquisition of the spectrum. Interestingly, the agency has decided to allow AT&T buy spectrum from Qualcomm.

AT&T‘s treaty with Qualcomm has now been done permitting AT&T to augment a little more power in its 700MHz spectrum. The region covered by the recently obtained spectrum serves 300 million users all over the country & 70 million consumers in 5 of the leading 15 markets in the US. Some of the main cities include LA, New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Boston. The FCC declared its judgment with a small statement on its official site.
