Nokia gives MeeGo patents to Jolla

After their departure from Nokia, the MeeGo team formed a startup with the name known as Jolla. It seems that they also have the support of the Finnish mobile phone maker, as the Finnish mobile maker has gifted the start-up some of its MeeGo patents. This could help the Jolla team to continue developing the operating system which they are already familiar with.

It’s still not clear which patents are transferred, however it was perhaps a chuck of the patents associated with projects the team worked on whilst they were working for Nokia.  Even Jolla founder, Jussi Hurmola has stated that both the Finnish firms have good relations.

Jolla has not formally announced any gadgets up till now, however Hurmola said they could launch their first device by the finish of this year.
