Intel-powered smartphone to hit UK market this week

Intel’s San Diego smartphone is expected to hit the market shelves in the UK market pretty soon. The official release date for the Orange San Diego smartphone to hit the UK market is June 6th.  Traditionally, the ARM-based processors have been the favorite of mobile manufacturers in the country, but Intel is not losing hope.  The first smartphone with the Intel Inside power is also an exclusive of Orange. So, Orange clients can only lay their hands on this device. Many users who were hoping to lay their hands on a smartphone power-driven by Intel will be disappointed by this. Still, we hope that soon many other devices running on Intel from different makers will hit the market.

San Diego comes with Intel's Atom Z2460 CPU clocking at 1.6GHz. The handset has a massive 4.03” touchscreen producing an impressive resolution of 1024x600 pixels and an 8 MP snapper. Orange has also incorporated the facility of HD Voice on this smartphone.

Consumers in the UK might be a tad disappointed that the outdated Android v2.3 has been included, but the good news is that an update to Ice Cream Sandwich is forthcoming. This handset could be a great start for Intel. Still, they need to choose a reputed hardware manufacturer to stay afloat in the souk. It is expected that Orange will release the smartphone in France as well. So, folks what’s your views on this new smartphone slated to hit the market soon.
